The NCYH Player of the Month is voted on by the NCYH Advisory Committee every month during the regular season. Nominations are made by coaches, managers and age level representatives. The player is selected not just for their on-ice play and work ethic, but for their academic performance, volunteerism, and general conduct off the ice as well. The Player of the Month receives a gift certificate and recognition on the NCYH website.

Kyle Lindholm

Kyle has played hockey for three years all at NoCo.  He is a first year squirt and is Captain of the Squirt C team.  Currently in Pointstreak, Kyle is tied for second among the Squirt C scoring leaders.

Coach Ken Ohlheiser says Kyle displays strong leadership qualities by consistently being first in line for drills, volunteering to demonstrate how to do new drills and encouraging teammates to give maximum effort during practice and games.  Coach adds Kyle promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.  He is looked up to by teammates and is the go-to-guy in clutch games situations.

When Kyle was told he was the player of the month in the locker-room with his team he thanked the coaches and said "We win as a team and we lose as a team, I wouldn't have been nominated for player of the month if it wasn't for my awesome team.  ... GREAT JOB TEAM !!!

October DNHL Player of the Month

Name: Nick Ingersoll

Other interests: Nick plays football, is a teacher's aide at Turner Middle School

He also enjoys skateboarding and snowboarding.

In the summer he enjoys attending the Cheley camp outside Estes Park.

How long have you been playing hockey (and where?)  Brooke Benton is the captain of the NCYH Bantam B Team. She is a second year Bantam and has been playing hockey since she was 8 years old.

Brooke started playing hockey in the Squirt age division as a Providence Predator. (Now what is NoCo.)  She played recreational hockey for 3 years before going out for the Competitive teams as a Second year Pee-Wee. Originally she enjoyed to play defense, and was never a big fan of forward. Her first competitive game changed that when her coach asked her to play Center, and she has ever since.  Each of her 3 competitive years she has either been the Captain or an Assistant Captain.

This season she is doing quite well and has been in the top 15 on the scoring leaders list for the Bantam B league on Pointstreak the entire season so far. She enjoys hockey and always works her hardest every time she steps on the ice.

Academics - Brooke is a freshman at local Fort Collins High School. She is in 3 Pre- Advanced Placement classes and currently has a 4.0 GPA. She maintained that 4.0 all through Junior High and is continuing her success to high school. Her favorite subject is Math and her least favorite is Science.

Other Sports – Brooke plays basketball and has been playing since kindergarten. Along with hockey and basketball Brooke enjoys golf and is looking forward to trying out for Fort Collins High School’s girl’s golf team in the spring.

Other Interests and Activities -  Brooke enjoys spending time with her friends in her spare time. She likes to listen to music, some of her genres of music are; Alternative, Hip-Hop/Rap, and Reggae. She likes to play videogames, such as Guitar Hero, any sports games, and racing games. Brooke also likes to watch movies, her favorites are Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and School of Rock. In the winter, she enjoys going up to the mountains and skiing.

Career Aspiration – Brooke finds a great interest in the medical field. She hopes to go to college on a hockey or golf scholarship. (Hockey- University of Minnesota, Golf- ASU or Stanford.) There she hopes to pursue a career somewhere in the medical field, preferably sports medicine. After college, she hopes to be able to use her college education towards a career, become the director for a major girl’s hockey program somewhere, or coach girl’s hockey at a prep school back east.
